Recipe: Warm and soothing turmeric tea recipe

This warm and soothing turmeric tea contains healing and anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin. This magic compound has many interesting actions including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective and anti-arthritic properties. Adding black pepper with turmeric and consuming this combination with fat enhances the bioavailability of the curcumin.

¼ cup coconut cream (full fat)
1 cup water
½ tsp powdered turmeric (or a 2cm piece of fresh turmeric roughly sliced)
½ tsp powdered ginger (or a 4cm piece of fresh ginger roughly sliced)
¼- ½ tsp raw honey (optional)
Sprinkle of fresh cracked pepper


In a small saucepan over a medium heat, place the water, coconut milk, turmeric and ginger and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Take off the heat and strain into your favourite cup.  Stir through honey and sprinkle with cracked pepper.  Enjoy immediately as a healthy, warming, anti-inflammatory and yummy drink!
